Apricus is a Latin term which can be translated to “sunny,” “warmed by the sun,” or “exposed to sunlight.” I wrote this piece to symbolize my appreciation for sunlight and its warmth. A celestial entity, the sun is the main energizer for our planet and the solar system. The sun brings life to our plants brings energy to most creatures and humanity. Research shows that if you are feeling low on energy, a short walk in the sun is a good way to reenergize your spirits allowing you to be more productive.
The music begins with a soundscape that conveys floating in space while the sun slowly starts to reveal itself. This section is for appreciation of the grand celestial body that the sun is. The music slowly becomes warmer with flowing melodies to symbolize the sun warming up and bringing life to the Earth. All leading up to the most grand moment of the piece where the sun reaches high noon where it shares all of its light. The end of the piece returns to the earlier soundscape to symbolize the sun setting as we await its return the next day.
